This production of A Christmas Carol is a new adaptation by Andy Greenleaf from the novella by Charles Dickens. It will be directed by Julia Rabson Harris and produced by Seth Ghitelman. SHOW SYNOPSIS: A Christmas Carol is about a capitalist, miserly old man who learns the true meaning of Christmas. One Christmas eve in mid-1800s England, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his old business partner and then by three Christmas spirits. They take him on a journey through time, teaching him that happiness is found in charity towards others. CONTENT ADVISORY: Discussions of death and poverty. SETTING: England, 1843 CHARACTERS: Our production will involve a large ensemble of actors, most of whom will have multiple roles. We have divided the ensemble into tracks and have highlighted the primary role associated with each track.

Auditions will be held at Silver Spring Stage (10145 Colesville Rd, Silver Spring, MD) on:
October 17, 2026 from 2pm - 5pm.

Please prepare a 90-second contemporary monologue. If you don’t have a monologue, we will have some at the audition. Video auditions accepted as well.

Walk-ups are permitted, but we will accommodate them only as time allows.

Actors must note their conflicts throughout the rehearsal process and run of the show, December 11 – December 20, 2026.

Rehearsals will typically be held four times a week, on both weeknights and weekends, depending on cast availability.

Tech and dress rehearsals begin December 2nd and run through December 10th.

Performances will run two weekends, December 11 – December 20. Performances will be Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30 PM. Sunday matinees will be at 2:00 PM. Saturday December 12th will have a matinee at 3:00 PM. Saturday December 17th will have a matinee at 3:00 PM and an evening show at 7:30 PM.

Cast attendance is required at all rehearsals as called by the director and stage manager, unless a conflict has been previously indicated. Cast must be available for all tech and dress rehearsals, performances, and brush ups.

Mask policy and health considerations: Collaborators are required to mask if they have been exposed to the COVID in the last week or if they are experiencing symptoms. Otherwise, masking is optional.

Bob Cratchit (man, 30s-40s). You will be asked to present a contemporary monologue no longer than 90 seconds and 16 bars of an acapella song. Holiday songs and prepared, memorized monologues are preferred. However, actors may bring a copy of a monologue to read, and the Stage will also have printed monologues available.
